A stunning romantasy about a threatened Siren who forges a bond with a brooding, self-righteous king in order to flee the king who raised her. Perfect for fans of One Dark Window and For the Wolf.

"Atmospheric and evocative" --Rachel Gillig

The monster is always slain ... Imogen Nel is in hiding. Hiding from a cruel kingdom that believes Sirens are monstrous, blood-hungry creatures. Hiding from a king and his captain who viciously hunt her kind. Hiding from her own alluring abilities. By keeping herself from the sea, Imogen's bloodlust is dulled, and her black wings remain concealed beneath her skin.

When a neighboring king comes to visit, Imogen can no longer hide. He knows precisely what she is, and he believes she can save their kingdoms from an even greater monster. But Imogen's power threatens to violently reveal itself, and the two form a blood bond that protects them both. They flee together, traversing waters teeming with the undead. As the lines between duty to their people and desire for each other begin to blur, Imogen worries her ancestral powers may not be enough to kill what hunts her--the only way to defeat a monster may be to become one herself.

Uhhhh what the hell?! What was that?! How dare this book be that good!! The hype is real, friends. I absolutely lovedddddd it. I need book 2 NOW.

Imogen is a Siren and has been kept under lock and key her whole life on a remote island by a cruel King intent on killing all Sirens. She sees a way to escape when a visiting King Theodore agrees to help. Things happen, truths are uncovered, yada yada yada… it's INCREDIBLE. The writing is very Rachel Gillig coded, the world is giving One Dark Window meets Pirates of the Carribean. I freaking loved it.

The partially decomposed nekgya sea creatures added a fun, spooky element. SUPER creepy! And I also loved the Mr Darcy-esque dialect. So much fun.

The hype is real and don't sleep on this perfect little creepy siren duology! Think gothic Little Mermaid with some spice. 🎉🎉 I loved this series and really not much could be better for me. It was quick, spooky, endearing, interesting and super unique!

The writing is beautiful - if you like Rachel Gillig - they are besties and have similar writing styles, so this is right up your alley! The spice is there but only the subplot and keeps the reader yearning for the entirety of the series.

Loved it!
